Abide

My name is Taylor Newman, and I am the founder of Deeply Rooted.

I gave my life to Christ in 2023 after experiencing a personal health challenge that God so graciously healed me from. That moment marked the beginning of a radical shift in my life. One that led me into a deeper relationship with Jesus and a sincere desire to understand my purpose on this earth.

While my walk with Christ is still relatively young, I have experienced profound growth in a short amount of time. I’ve seen God move, restore, teach, and sustain me in ways that have made it clear: there is nowhere else I would rather be. Like Peter said in John 6:68-69,“Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life. Also we have come to believe and know that You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.”

After spending a year in solitude and reading the Bible in its entirety, my foundation became solid. I am always growing, always evolving, but my roots are deep, and my faith is unshakable.

The Birth of Deeply Rooted

Deeply Rooted was created in June 2024. While reading through the book of John, I kept hearing the Lord speak to me about abiding and applying His Word to my life.

When I reached John chapter 15, I could not move past verse five. I sat with it. I walked around my room speaking it aloud. It was one of those moments where the Holy Spirit takes over completely, and God began ministering to me in a way that felt unmistakably Spirit-led.

I’m a plant enthusiast, and the Holy Spirit used the life cycle of a plant to show me what it truly means to abide:

  • How a plant is rooted - by something or someone
  • How it must be watered and supported to grow upright
  • How fertilizer is added when growth is stunted
  • How repotting is necessary when it outgrows its container

Before I knew it, I was writing everything down. I’ve always had a heart to teach, so these moments often turn into what I call “lesson plans”.

From Download to Movement

Around that time, my Overseer encouraged my sister in Christ, Katelyn B., and me to consider hosting a women’s event. When I finished the Deeply Rooted lesson plan, I felt a quiet assurance that this was exactly what God had called us to do.

The event began with Katelyn leading a heartfelt discussion on women’s health and self-care, creating a safe space for openness and vulnerability. I guided the ladies through an activity of repotting plants, connecting each step to scripture and the spiritual lessons God had revealed to me (showing how growth, care, and patience in a plant mirror the growth and nurturing of our own faith).

Women of all ages shared how meaningful the experience had been. The conversations, reflections, and laughter left a lasting impression, and it was clear that God had created a space for connection, growth, and encouragement.

That evening, I went home feeling grateful and full, and God confirmed the vision He had placed in my heart. I began seeing new ways to expand Deeply Rooted, inviting young women into faith through trust, accountability, and confidence.

I don’t yet know where God is taking this, or me, but I have faith, my passport, and an unequivocal “yes."
